“You need to try Sister Srey Cafe,” said a new friend after hearing about my food allergies.
And to be honest, I normally brush off these types of suggestions. Usually because I get the feeling that the person I’m talking to doesn’t understand the seriousness or severity of my allergies. But Rhona gave me the sense that she understood what I was saying, so I decided I had nothing to lose and made my way over to Sister Srey Cafe.
Not a mistake. At all. In the course of 4 days I ate at Sister Srey 3 times. The Khmer staff was very well educated on food allergies, the menu had a food allergy statement, and the food and drinks were delicious.
Those meals included the grilled chicken salad… twice, the summer mango & chicken burger, iced coffee, iced mocha, and a mixed juice.
Needless to say… I highly recommend making a trip to this cafe. Food allergies or not, the food is fantastic and the people are even better.
Sister Srey Cafe is located at 200 Pokambor St, Riverside – Old Market Area, Siem Reap. The cafe is close to the old market and pub street, making it a great place to go for any meal. It also has seating that face the street, making it the perfect place to people watch.
Sister Srey Cafe is owned by two sisters who opened the coffee shop “to help and support Khmer students and to make a sustainable impact into the community” (taken from their website).
